Essential Functions (Responsibilities):

Responsibilities:
· Candidate is part of team responsible for the specification, design, and development and testing of the on-line inspection vehicles, on and off board systems and associated handling and test equipment.
· Build test rigs and prototypes to agreed timescales and within project costs.
· Supply information for planning and estimating test activities within the section.
· Manufacture prototype circuit boards, test equipment and rigs, write software and interface electro mechanical equipment for test, development or concept proving purposes, as required.
· To provide information for planning purposes and estimates of resources required completing activities.
· To ensure that all work conducted, either on or off site, are done in a manner that complies with the relevant health and safety procedures.
· Achieve development program requirements as defined by the Design Engineers to agreed timescales and budgetary constraints.
· Control test work and produce test reports on time, detailing method, results and relevant conclusions
· Produce information for planning and estimating purposes relating to development build and test activities.
· Develop an understanding and working knowledge of all relevant test equipment on site.
Qualifications/Requirements:
· A recognised Electrical/Electronic Engineering apprenticeship is required together with experience and knowledge of laboratory equipment, environmental and in field test equipment.
· Experience of mass storage technology, SCSI, electronic CAD and microprocessors is desirable for this post. As is embedded software experience, such as assembler, C, C++ etc.
· Ability to produce test reports and simple calculations to assist the development process as required.
· The candidate must be able to work with minimum supervision and have the capacity and thought to contribute constructively to the development build and test programme and design activity.
· The candidate must be a hands-on person who is willing to search for solutions and utilise available resources to achieve deadlines.
· The candidate should be a good communicator, both verbally and for the preparation of test reports.
· Flexibility is important to ensure development build and tests are conducted to agreed timescales and within strict budgetary constraints.
