Job Description
 
Our client is a large manufacturer of oil rigs in Canada and USA. They also provide aftermarket services to Oil & Gas companies all over the world. They are looking for a talented Mechanical Engineer – Rotating Equipment. This opening is for their location in Calgary, AB
 
The successful candidate will be responsible for the “design” of Oilfield Equipment and optimum functionality of components used in the Oil & Gas sector.
 
Your responsibilities will be as follows:
·         Mechanical Engineering & Design of components and assemblies for their rotating equipment product line
·         Machine component design of equipment such as gearboxes, chain drives, draw-works, etc
·         OEM equipment and material selection
·         Standardization of structural parts and materials
·         You will interact with purchasing to ensure sourcing of materials  and parts on time
·         You will coordinate draftsmen and design engineers to prepare drawing packages
·         You will meet with customers and vendors for design reviews and updates
·         You will also discuss project requirements with them
·         After the “design” is completed, you will assume the role of project engineer and assist production personnel to interpret drawings and solve manufacturing problems
·         You will make necessary modifications after getting input from production personnel
·         You will assist service personnel in trouble-shooting or making modifications in the field
 
The ideal candidate will have:
·         You have a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
·         You have preferably P.Eng designation
·         You have about 7 – 10  years “hands-on experience” with any one of these: Autodesk Inventor  /  SolidWorks / AutoCAD / Pro-Eng / or CATIA
·         You have experience with “heavy industrial equipment”
·         You have good knowledge of industry standards such as ASME, API, CSA, CWB, OH & S, etc.
·         You can work well in a team environment with minimum supervision
·         You are good at multi-tasking and can prioritize
·         You have good organization and planning skills
·         You have good communication skills – both verbal & written
