Our global service network ensures that we are able to respond quickly and efficiently at local and international level - from initial enquiry through to supply, installation, maintenance and upgrades.
Summary
This person is responsible for performing quality maintenance, repairs and testing of all [Company] Actuators under a minimum of supervision. The individual performs a substantial variety of tasks which require a thorough knowledge of maintenance and repair techniques, tools and equipment as they relate to [Company] Actuators. Repair and maintenance of actuators and/or actuator packages will involve a large amount of parts and complexity. The individual will be required to contribute to a team of service technicians by doing his/her part in maintaining or exceeding the service budget, punctual submittal of accurate reports, expenses etc., maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the shop service area and improve service through contributions within the department as well as supporting our sales team. Maintaining good customer relations is key to much of the success of this department. This position requires a very strong mechanical and electrical background, with a minimum of 5 years real-life experience of both. Past or existing use of [Company] products would be considered a major advantage to any applicant.
Specific Job Functions
The Inside Service technician has a number of tasks that must be performed correctly in order to succeed in the service department. These include but are not limited to:
· Complete maintenance, testing, and repair of actuators, gear boxes and control systems in the main service facility in Edmonton.
· This individual will also be capable of performing training of customers and internal staff in the areas of actuator repair, maintenance, and testing.
· Maintaining detailed records of service work performed, following company guidelines for inventory control, writing technical reports of service work performed, keeping and submitting expense reports and supporting sales by forwarding leads and reports to the sales team.
· Maintaining current certification in all required safety and site training. This includes first aid and any other relevant requirements.
Skills/Abilities
The individual must have the following skills and abilities to perform the Inside Service technician position correctly:
· The individual must exhibit sound judgement and strong troubleshooting skills including an understanding of basic instrumentation and a thorough understanding of electrical and mechanical systems. This includes the ability to read and understand both electrical and pneumatic schematic drawings, basic wiring diagrams and maintenance and service manuals. The instrumentation background will allow the individual to have a good understanding of what the actuators and control systems are interfacing to, in order to troubleshoot effectively.
· The individual must ensure that they perform quality work at all times.
· The individual must be tactful and patient in dealing with customers, via phone, email and occasionally in person.
· Must be independent and self-reliant with the ability to properly evaluate a variety of problems and correctly diagnose electrical, mechanical and instrumentation problems.
· The individual must be able to write a number of different clear, concise reports in Microsoft Word. Past experience in the use of the most common Microsoft Office products is a must.
· The individual must have the ability to perform commissioning and diagnostics on serial communications systems in the areas of Pakscan, Modbus and Foundation Fieldbus after having completed the [Company] in-house serial communications course.
· Must be flexible to work extended hours at times as occasional weekend or evening work may result during shutdowns or busy periods.
· The individual must effectively schedule and prioritize their time and upcoming service work.
Personality Traits
The individual must have strong initiative and organizational skills, be reliable and punctual, have good listening skills, have good communication skills, pay attention to detail, have the ability to work independently with little supervision and have a common sense approach to decision making.
Training/Education
The individual is a graduate of a recognized technical college with a valid ticket in an electrical, mechanical or some other related field or has a minimum of 3 years of [Company] experience.
