Our client is a supplier of drilling rigs, tubular handling systems and control systems for the Oil & Gas industry all over the world. Their products are used to drill the most challenging wells.
They are looking for talented Structural Engineer - Oilfield Equipment - to design land and offshore drill rig packages - including hoisting system, work basket, drill floor and associated substructure, pipe handling system and driller's house. This opening is for their location in Edmonton, AB.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
· You will perform analysis of drilling rig structures according to API standards
· You will review and evaluate structural designs
· You will make recommendations / solutions / suggestions
· You will be responsible for the complete structural design
· You will ensure compliance of structural strengths of components and assemblies to project specifications
· You will assist in the selection of materials for construction
· You will review drawings and approve them
· You will prepare analysis reports
· You will manage relevant engineering documents
· You will maintain engineering standards as per the company guidelines
The ideal candidate will have:
· You have a degree in Civil-Structural Engineering / or related discipline
· P. Eng designation will be an asset
· You have 5+ years experience on the structural design of oilfield equipment / or similar heavy-duty equipment
· You have a good background in structural design
· You have experience in the Oil & Gas industry - this is a must
· You have a good background in structural analysis - using ANSYS and STAAD PRO
· You have experience with 2-D and 3-D (Inventor / SolidWorks) design tools
· You have a good understanding of the strength of materials and weld properties
· You have an interest in drilling equipment and operations
· You can work independently as well as in a team environment
· You have good communication skills - both verbal & written
