Geological development and analysis of regional-scale projects in numerous mid-continent, central and eastern US basins with emphasis on shale unconventional gas reservoirs. Analyze [Company] position in existing shale exploration projects in the [Location] and the [Location] Texas. Provide geological guidance for exploratory drilling operations with emphasis on formation and reservoir evaluation.  Team with drilling, reservoir, operations and land to enhance [Company] approach to existing areas and entry into new areas. Bring creativity and leadership to the team. Work with geophysicists to tie well data to seismic data for a fully integrated interpretation. Mentor other geoscientists.
 
Job Description:
·         Conduct regional studies to identify unconventional shale prospects of significant impact to[Company] .  Determine G & G factors that explain why previously drilled areas are favorable or poor.
·         Risk analysis of projects with an emphasis on Pete Rose evaluation software.
·         Utilize geological software proficiently to evaluate large volumes of well information.
·         Provide team leadership on projects that can enhance Devon’s bottom line.
·         Ability to multitask and prioritize work accordingly.
·         Formation evaluation with the understanding of when it is appropriate to bring outside resources to bear on challenging projects.
·         Reservoir characterization through cooperation with engineering and geophysical and University disciplines.
·         Well site geologic work (minimal). Seismic interpretation skills and geophysical workstation capabilities.
 
Job Requirements:
·         Barnett shale or other unconventional gas experience preferred.
·         Computer literate with geological application experience (Petra, GeoGraphix Discovery, A2D, etc.)
·         Team oriented with experience in working with multiple disciplines.
·         Strong public speaking skills with emphasis on prospect presentation.
·         Literate in risk anaylsis techniques.
·         BS in Geological Sciences, preferably MS.
