Primary responsibility is to provide technical support to geoscientists. Tasks include maintaining digital datasets in PC environments, assisting in the preparation of digital displays for presentations and reports, and other functions as required by geoscientists. Position requires coordination between geoscientists, other technicians, other disciplines (land, engineering, production, IT, etc.) system administrators, drafters, records management, etc. Position will primarily support geological efforts in the Central Division covering the area.
Job Description:
· Locate, gather, prepare, and load well data into applications and maintain databases.
· Generate geological/geophysical base maps, cross sections, and various other displays and reports.
· Organize and manipulate geological/geophysical databases in Excel and Access.
· Cut, splice, and color cross-sections and maps; Drafting, filing, folding, and copying as necessary to support workgroup.
· Search and generate reports from I.H.S. (PI Dwights), DrillingInfo, DIMS, , etc. and load data into well database.
· Build custom databases and spreadsheets to assist in geological analyses.
· Develop programming solutions to data issues
Job Requirements:
· Undergraduate degree in management information systems, math, physics or related field or the equivalent knowledge base preferred.
· Competent with PC and advanced knowledge of software packages including Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint and the ability and initiative to learn new software, tasks and workflows. Certifications or demonstrated skill in MS Excel, Access, Programming, UNIX and Windows preferred.
· Team player with interpersonal skills capable of cultivating and maintaining excellent working relationships with peers and geoscientists.
· Problem-solver, flexible, strong work ethic and high degree of independent thinking and initiative.
· Knowledge of AutoCAD, CorelDraw, PhotoShop, Arcview, , Geographix software preferred.
· Knowledge of oil and gas terminology, including types and uses of various well log curves and geophysical data types preferred
