Description:
Required for our client who is a growing leader in the design, manufacturing and installation of pre-cast and pre-stressed concrete components for a variety of structures. Their products are used for both structural and architectural purposes and in a variety of applications including: bridges, stadiums, arenas, schools and parkades.
Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, the incumbent will:
- Main technical adviser on a construction site for sub-contractors, crafts people and operatives.
- Apply engineering knowledge to the design of complicated and involved pre-cast concrete elements and structures.
- Provide design support to other project managers and other departments with in the region.
- Participate in various process improvement initiatives.
- Check drawings and quantities and ensure that the calculations are accurate for the work.
- Plan the work and efficiently organize the plant and site facilities in order to meet an agreed program of deadlines.
- Act as liaison with any consultants and/or sub-contractors engaged in the project.
- Attend regular meetings with clients, architects and consultants and keep them informed of progress.
- Supervise and monitor the site labour force and monitor the work of any sub-contractor.
- Oversee quality control and safety matters on the site and ensure that regulations are adhered to.
- Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. (Junior, Intermediate or Senior Engineer will be considered)
- Area of Specialization: Architectural and Structural pre-cast concrete
- Must speak, read and write English.
- Minimum 3 ¡V 5 years of direct work experience in architectural and structural pre-cast concrete fabrication.
- Familiarity with structural steel design.
- Willing to travel to attend site meetings, field inspections and pre-cast design meetings as required.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with various design software is an asset.
- Willing to take courses to develop professionally.
- Be familiar with standard construction procedures and specifications.
- Be familiar with applicable building codes, regulatory agencies and municipal requirements and bylaw.
- Adhere to project budget and controls.
- Advanced leadership, communication and supervisory skill
- Be able to juggle priorities and work efficiently to meet deadlines.
- You must possess a valid driver¡¦s license.
