Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement and manage the geotechnical control plan at the Mine
- Field Operations slope and geotechnical monitoring program
- ensure safe implementation of the mine and tailings plan
- geotechnical incident investigation
- geotechnical remediation and prevention
- mine facility inspections and recommendations
- material selection and constructability
- mine dewatering program, system design and implementation
- Integrated Operations Communicate with planning engineers
- Liaise, coordinate and manage external consultants
- effective direction of the mine and tailings plan
- material testing programs
- field support as required
- project support
- geotechnical submissions to regulatory authorities (eg Dam Safety Branch, EUB)
- Leadership own the geotechnical plan for the site
- ensure all parties involved have strong understanding of geotechnical considerations
- Steward the Planning Engineers and mine and tailings plan
- Plan for safe implementation of the mine and tailings plan
- identify opportunities for cost reductions and efficiency improvements
- challenge ?status quo? processes and solutions with new ideas
- strive to always improve the safety, environmental and financial bottom line
Requirements:
- Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full time basis for anyone other than current employer.
- Bachelor of Science
- Mining, Civil or Geological Engineering
- 4+ years of geotechnical experience Oilsands experience an asset
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to work in a flexible team environment
- Strong computer skills and a familiarity with common business and geotechnical engineering software
- Good task management and reporting skills
- Well-developed mining skills, both in a technical and operational environment
