Job Description:
 
The Reliability - Vibration Analyst - Rotating Equipment delivers reliability stewardship to the mine and plant and provides rotating equipment integrity management services to the site.  This field position monitors and records the performance of all plant rotating equipment for the purposes of analyzing procuring and implementing a better end product that will increase its reliability. Perform duties safely and in conformance with applicable codes and ABSA regulations
 
Responsibilities:
  • Investigate (mechanical) failures or unexpected maintenance problems by using a combination of field work, interviewing operators/maintainers and use of DCS tools
  • Troubleshoot performance problems with data analyses and calculations and recommend corrective actions as required
  • Track equipment usage from the RAM system and PI from the DCS as a performance monitoring tool
  • Write guidelines that will be incorporated in operating and/or maintenance procedures
  • Develop tactics and strategies that will allow plant equipment to achieve optimum performance by maximizing reliability
  • Conduct formal root cause analyses, write and distribute the report and implement the results
  • Share learnings with engineers, operators and maintainers at oil sands facilities to study their equipment and methods
  • Monitor maintenance performed on plant equipment by visiting the field and talking to maintenance personnel for the purposes of determining more reliable solutions to failures and worn equipment
  • Liaise with vendors in procuring major pieces of equipment In some cases combining maintenance efforts with project efforts in order to procure a more reliable as well as a less costly piece of equipment
  • Participate in the GAME implementation programme, including visual leadership in reliability improvement activities; chair the Operations Reliability teams in line with the program.
Qualifications
  • Mechanical or electrical trade certificate
  • CMVA (Canadian Machinery Vibration Association) level 2 - 4 vibration analyst or equivalent
Experience:
  • 5 years experience working in reliability preferably with industrial rotating equipment
  • 5-10 years working with industrial rotating equipment (electric motors, pumps, fans, conveyors, etc).
  • 5-10 years solid experience using advanced vibration and oil analysis techniques
  • Several years experience working with contractors and vendors
  • Several years experience oil sands operation will be considered an asse

Skill:

  • Well developed communication skills
  • Ability to work and excel in a flexible team environment
  • Excellent task management skills and reporting skills
  • Good computer skills
  • Strong maintenance foundation including a sound technical knowledge of rotating equipment, piping, pumping, and compression.
  • Ability to conceive innovative and cost effective solutions to problems
  • Dedication to safe work and environmental responsibility
  • Good organizational skills
  • Knowledge and experience in Extraction and Froth is considered an asset
