Overview
The heavy oil R&D process engineer develops and directs research programs to better understand heavy oil processing and provide data to support heavy oil capital projects and technologies. This includes acquiring and analyzing data from pilot plants, commercial refineries and plants, and [Employer] partners and vendors to develop a body of knowledge for future projects and research. The ability to communicate learnings is critical to the success of this position.
Job Description
- Managing one or more research programs
- Providing oversight for R&D-SS pilot plant personnel, various pilot plant procedures and protocols, scoping and design
- Analysis of pilot plant data
- Documentation of research data and analysis
- Providing oversight for outside contractors/pilot plants/laboratories/engineering studies/evaluations of various technologies and research
- Presenting data and analysis to field operations customers
- Working with other researchers to solve problems
- Develop proposals for new research programs based on need and results of current research
- Develop working relationships with vendors and researchers
Qualifications
- Must be eligible to work in the US full time without restrictions
- Must have a valid Drivers License
- BA/BS Engineering Degree (prefer Chemical Engineering)
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills for interface with external and internal customers and experts
- Self-starter with excellent work ethic
