Overview
 
[Employer] Upstream Drilling & Production (D&P) Organization in Houston, Texas is seeking an engineer to be a Senior Reserves Engineer in the corporate reserves organization.  The job is based in Houston, but will require significant interaction with the assigned Business Units. The position requires an individual who already has or with the professional background to quickly obtain significant knowledge in SEC reserves standards and reserves estimation, comprehensive experience in the development and optimization of hydrocarbon reservoirs, and excellent judgment.   In addition, the individual should be able to work effectively with multi-discipline teams to address and resolve reserves booking issues.
 
Primary Function / Responsibilities
 
The Senior Reserves Engineer may be responsible for the following duties:
  • Serve as the reserves engineer for their assigned Business Units
  • Provide timely support, reviews and recommendation on reserves related projects, including corporate level reviews as necessary
  • Travel to Business Units as necessary to gather data and meet with business unit teams for reviews. Travel could be 15 — 20 percent of the engineer's time.
  • Participate in peer reviews of other’s work to enhance value and to promote consistency in project evaluations, including reserves related to the project
  • Participate in general reservoir engineering technical reviews
 
Qualifications
 
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a regular, full-time basis without restrictions
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering
  • A comprehensive reservoir engineering skill set commensurate with experience level.  For a senior engineer, expected skills include reserves estimating, reservoir simulation (black oil, compositional and fractured reservoirs), performance curve analysis, volumetrics, pressure-volume-temperature properties for fluids, material balance, pressure transient analysis, formation evaluation, and development planning.
  • Demonstrated experience in SEC reserves standards and reserves estimation or with the professional background to quickly obtain significant knowledge in SEC reserves standards and reserves estimation
  • Good working familiarity with geological and geophysical principles
  • Demonstrated ability to find innovative solutions to enhance the value of potential opportunities
  • Ability and willingness to travel, as required, to international locations
