As an IT Business Analyst, you will work closely with business clients in the application of processes and tools to support their needs in executing our client's business strategy.
The successful candidate will be required to take a proactive approach to understanding business problems, opportunities, constraints, and proposing solutions that meet and exceed client expectations. Achieving this will take patience, a passion for discovery and the skills to form relationships with staff in all areas of the company from a wide range of disciplines. Being risk aware rather than risk adverse will set the successful candidate apart in this role.
The preferred candidate will also be one who is comfortable with ambiguity and undaunted by bringing together multiple perspectives to create a common direction. They will be entrepreneurial in spirit, seeking job satisfaction from the knowledge of the influence they bring to bear on realizing the company's strategic goals rather than a need for sole recognition.
Duties and Responsibilities
· elicit requirements and propose & advise on IT solutions that meet current business and growth needs
· work with clients to identify opportunities for application of existing technological solutions to current issues
· build and manage relationships with key stakeholders and proactively manage expectations
· act as a liaison between clients and technical solution providers to design and deliver solutions throughout the life of a product
· actively participate in the Business Analyst community improving methods, tools and techniques and provide coaching and mentoring in areas of expertise
· prepare project documents such as requirements and process maps
Qualifications
· must be legally entitled to work in Canada
· Post-Secondary degree with 10+ years of combined industry and IT experience
· experience within the Oil & Gas Industry is an asset
· previous project experience, particularly with Land, Facilities, or Production Measurement is desired
· ability to interact and form strong relationships with people from varying disciplines
· process orientated with the ability to discuss, advise, coordinate and document processes with people from varying disciplines
· solid analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
· exceptional influencing skills with the ability to solve problems and balance varying needs
· well developed team skills with a collaborative work style
· excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with business and IS personnel, as well as vendors
· proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
· strong organizational skills in prioritizing and keeping track of the numerous initiatives underway
· experience with cost/benefit, feasibility and gap analysis
· good understanding of release management process and procedures
· proven IS technical competency - to the extent of being able to assist in interpreting and implementing new business functionality
