Responsibilities:
Define and implement the overall Test Strategy and Test Approach as per test standards and to project milestones
Identify test resource requirements and mobilize test team
Accountable for all phases of testing and the management of the testing activities within a development project
Plan or oversee the planning of the system and acceptance tests and co-ordinate the execution of these plans
Ensure tests are executed in a timely, repeatable and effective fashion
Be able to report on testing KPIs and metrics, as they relate to tests conducted
Provide auditable test documentation as per test standards
Set criteria for the acceptance of code into test environments and the release out of these environments
Track and report quantitative and qualitative testing results in an auditable form
Assess value add and manage delivery of automating functional and technical test scripts
Develop plans for test cycles and phases (design, development, all testing phases, support)
Provide guidance to colleagues on any aspect of testing, including training for testers and other developers where appropriate
Quality Assure test planning approach and test artifacts delivered by external parties
Manage multiple small teams of testers providing them with mentoring, coaching and succession planning.
To ensure all products are delivered on time, to a high quality standard with the appropriate levels of cost attached.
Develop a team culture that promotes the development and retention of high quality development staff.
Create trust and credibility with stakeholders/user community
Responsible for all performance management aspects of team
Requirements:
Experience of managing test teams of 10 people or more
Strong planning and co-ordination skills proven in a complex and rapidly changing technical environment.
A strong understanding of the end-to-end process of project lifecycles.
Evidence of having worked on at least one large project from start to finish
Extensive experience of managing testing within multi-disciplinary teams
Experience of testing at various levels (i.e. System, Integration, Technical, Operational and User Acceptance Testing)
Experience of collaborative multi-team co-operation
Knowledge of structured technical testing strategies and methods in a distributed, networked environment
Ability to communicate effectively and liaise on a technical level with Analysts, Designers and Developers to gain required knowledge for the design and creation of testing plans, scripts and supporting documents
Extensive understanding of defect tracking and management using tools
Experience of managing quality assurance of testing deliverables of third parties
Experience of planning and estimating test resource requirements and test execution timelines
Experience of testing risk assessment and mitigation strategies
Good Microsoft skills (Excel, Project and PowerPoint)
Experience of industry leading test tools (Mercury or Rational for defect Management, test automation and Test Case design)
Good level of understanding of messaging based systems (Tibco/MQ/JMS)
