Position responsibilities will include a variety of tasks relating to the day to day supervision and operation of the accounts receivable and payable departments.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to the accounts receivable and payable personnel
- Client and vendor set up and maintenance in the operating system
- Resolution of disputed AR and AP invoicing
- AR collection calls
- AP payment inquiry calls
- Ensure AP cheque runs are completed in a timely manner
- Ensure timeliness and accuracy of AP & AR entry
- Review of AR and AP aged reports on a weekly basis
- Review contracts for invoicing and payment requirements and review with AR staff
- Review presentation and accuracy of client invoicing, make sure we are meeting contractual requirements for invoicing
- Prepare backup for coding corrections for senior accountant as required
- Ensure all invoicing and month end cut off times are met within the department
- Ensure personnel understand and follow proper coding structure for each job (work in conjunction with project accounting)
- Ensure jobs are reviewed prior to month end to ensure all costs have been billed out or accrued for expense and revenue
- Oversee preparation and review of all month end AP and AR accruals prior to submission to senior accountant
- Organize training for new staff and any temporary staff
- Assist with yearly budget development for the department
- Ongoing review that Braid policies and procedures as set out for the department are being adhered to
- Regular performance evaluations for AR and AP staff
Qualification and skills
- 3+ years experience in financial accounting, specifically in accounts receivables and payables
- Experience in Industrial Construction or Oil & Gas industry is preferred
- Demonstrated supervisory experience required
- Knowledge and understanding of job cost accounting preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work with Excel spreadsheets is required
- CA, CGA, CMA or working towards designation would be an asset
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills to properly coordinate activities and meet deadlines
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Work effectively as part of a team and provide leadership to team members
- Possess good analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail
