THE JOB
Hatch is looking to hire Piping Engineers to work on a team of engineers and designers in performing all project related tasks within our Mississauga Head office. In depth experience in the design of mineral processing plants and equipment is required.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-Work with team of engineers and designers and ensure that piping design and engineering deliverables are in conformance with the codes, standards, quality, schedule and budgetary restraints.
-Execute the piping engineering requirements of project with safety, quality, sustainability and profitability as foremost considerations.
-Participate in project proposals, and project cost estimation, both for materials and engineering hours.
-Initiate project piping group QA audits.
-Maintain piping engineering records in conformance with Hatch and project quality assurance requirements for both internal and external audits, and ensure that all piping activities are both fully traceable and fully documented.
-Initiate as necessary and participate in HAZOP reviews.
-Provide a piping engineering consultancy service to all engineering disciplines, project fabricators, constructors and management.
-Assist with the responsibility for piping engineering and design change management and ensure that all changes are fully traceable, formally documented and distributed in conformance with project requirements.
-Ensure the overall planned project workflow is maintained by frequent and efficient inter-discipline liaison.
-Help to identify proposed essential and agreed changes to the Scope of Work. Promptly obtain Client approval (directly or as established with the Project Manager) for the ensuing cost and scheduling effects, including the initial time and costs expended to confirm the viability, or otherwise, of the proposed changes.;
-Evaluate Vendors quotations for technical adequacy, budgetary constraints and Sustainable Plant Design considerations.
-Participate in Hatch worldwide piping related initiatives.
THE CANDIDATE
The successful candidates must possess a Bachelor Degree in Applied Sciences or Engineering, as well as be registered or eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers, Ontario.
The attributes most sought after in this position are:
-7+ years of experience, including, substantial involvement in project management, pressure drop calculations, pipe stress analysis and other key areas of piping engineering.
-Knowledgeable of ASME and CSA piping Codes.
-Understand estimating, planning and scheduling techniques, and the necessity to check the current project piping manhour and piping materials cost estimates.
-Have a working understanding of the tools available for engineering and design/drafting
-Possess previous experience in similar role.
-Experience on EPCM type engineering projects will be considered an asset
