Job Purpose:
· Implement effective management control and reporting systems for active projects, and be responsible for the timeliness and accuracy of schedules produced.
General Duties, Responsibilities, & Critical Outcomes:
· For approved active projects, with input from the Project Manager and Project Engineers, be responsible for implementing approved work breakdown structure, time and resource schedules, implementing and monitoring the schedule, identifying trends and recommending corrective action to be taken as required.
· Report progress for active projects against schedule and resource allocation to the Project Manager and others as directed by the Project Manager.
· Recommend to the Project Manager modifications to the project organization that will promote functional and efficient execution of the project.
· Ensure that approved schedules are issued in a timely manner in accordance with procedures.
· Manage the collection of progress data by disciplines.
· Identify specific, special needs or tasks to be actioned and recommend the persons required to carry out the work.
· Recommend the schedule baselines and philosophies to the Project Manager.
· Maintain proficiency with company-used planning software.
· Maintain a working knowledge of spreadsheet, data base and word processing software.
· Maintain and upgrade skill level through further education and/or training.
· Recommend project control systems and procedures to meet corporate objectives.
· Assist in setting up systems & procedures to document, track and control all project costs.
· Maintain project budget, update all changes, maintain master list of project cost control codes. Set up and streamline communications channels to efficiently process cost data.
· Collect cost and other data from various sources for consolidated cost report(s) (site offices, home office, procurement, accounting, etc.) expedite & eliminate hang-ups in cost data sources if cost data is not submitted in time.
· Set up the cost control system for the projects, and input cost data into spreadsheets and/or cost control system.
· Prepare reports, commitments, actual expenditures, track against budget, progress and schedule forecasts, projected cash outflow, customized reports as required.
· Answer queries on cost allocations and deviations from planned expenditures. Interface with project staff and project control personnel to obtain appropriate input for cost reports, duties as assigned by the manager of project controls.
