Job Description
Perform activities necessary as estimator for a broad range of natural gas facility projects including high pressure transmission pipeline, compression, metering, storage, gathering, treating, and processing.
Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Prepare and review cost estimates, corresponding sketches, and job scopes with the Project Manager
Provide estimating leadership and direction to project team that may be comprised of internal and external service providers including but not limited to Project Managers, Business Development, Engineers, Operations, and Customers
Work with a cross-functional team with tact, courtesy and professionalism, including but not limited to departments such as Certificates, Legal, Environmental, Safety and Land
Attention to detail, accuracy, completeness and meeting deadlines and commitments
Update cost estimating software, pricing, and develop reports
Strong computer skills including MS Office / Excel / Word
Excellent time management and organization skills and ability to manage competing priorities
Communicate the status of developmental activities to Project Managers and business sponsors using written and verbal communications
Estimate projects to assure safety, reliability, environmental and human impacts are mitigated while meeting the project goals (including but not limited to Schedule, Budget, Safety and overall Quality)
Effective written, listening, and verbal communication skills and strong presentation skills
Communicate with Management on goals and objectives
Ensure ongoing improvement through evaluation of current processes
Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and high level of performance
Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public
Travel is required and anticipated as 0-20 percent across a broad geographic region
Qualifications
Undergraduate (Bachelor level) degree is preferred, but not necessary
Construction Management degree or experience is preferred, but not necessary
Estimating, Scheduling, Project Management Classes or Certification is helpful
Must be able to understand the needs of the Project Manager and business unit(s) for which development work is being performed
Must possess basic understanding of upstream, midstream and downstream projects
Intermediate to advanced proficiency level in Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other Office Suite general products
Strong analytical skills and logical thought processes
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including but not limited to the ability to present ideas, proposals and results to business segment leaders and to internal and external customers
Ability to organize and prioritize daily work, including tracking and managing various estimates
Must be able to successfully and simultaneously manage multiple tasks, and work with minimal direct supervision
Must possess general understanding of how corporate policies, procedures, practices and processes relate to the Gas Pipeline business segment, associated business units, and internal and external customers
Must be familiar with unit rates, material and equipment pricing, labor pricing and other estimate components and techniques
Prepare proposal documents, including pricing, qualification information, technical and commercial clarifications, schedules and other supporting information as required by the Project Manager or estimate request
Ability to work with a team, take directions from supervisor(s), high degree of attention to details, follow work rules, and adhere to established work schedules
Ability to identify and establish expectations in an employee/employer relationship (subordinate/manager)
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers
Solid leadership, communication, motivation and interpersonal skills, and the ability to estimate projects that will include working with individuals with varying disciplines, backgrounds and experience levels
Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), prioritize work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules
Willingness to work overtime, as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Estimating experience and design of compressor stations, pipelines, and meter stations for mainline gas transmission service
Familiarity with MS Project Scheduling software
Timberline Cost Estimating Software is helpful
Project Management Classes or Certification is helpful
Understanding of basic economic analysis as it pertains to project justification
Knowledge of drawings and schematics
