Primary Focus
 
This intermediate role reports to the Manager of Lands and Right-of-Way, in this capacity you will use your knowledge and expertise to provide direction, assistance and approval on crossings and related matters for expansions, acquisitions and Greenfield projects.  It will be the responsibility of this individual to obtain the requisite crossing approvals and agreements to assist in the acquisition of right of way and the construction of related pipeline projects.
 
Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development of company procedures, policies addressing crossings and related right of way issues
  • Provides support and assistance to project personnel in order to facilitate business initiatives as well as legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure consistent approaches regarding crossings and related right-of-way issues.
  • Provide direction, preparation and approval regarding crossing applicants, foreign facility owners, landowners and ensures compliance with design codes, standards and regulations.
  • Assist with administrative matters related to the right-of-way and crossings.
  • Where necessary and appropriate, liaise with inter/intra company staff, governments and regulatory agencies, landowners and occupants, and members of the general public.
  • Assist in right-of-way matters involving negotiating for, and acquisition of, property to support projects.
  • Assistance with maintaining landowner and crossings GIS database.
Qualifications
  • Related degree or diploma
  • Membership in the International Right Of Way Association (IRWA) or equivalent association plus a minimum of three (3) years related experience.  Completion or in the process of completing IRWA general and three core course requirements.  Equivalencies considered.
  • Ability to interpret applicable legislation, regulations and processes.
  • Understanding of legal land descriptions, crossing drawings and related technical information.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of relevant principles and practices involved in negotiating.
  • Strong organizational skills
