Summary of Position

The Senior Dispatcher/Operations Manager has direct responsibility for the operation and control of all tractors, trailers, and drivers in the Alberta Region. This position works closely with the Safety Manager and the Maintenance Manager to ensure that operations follow corporate policies and procedures and government regulations.
Pay: $70,000 - $90,000 per year
Responsibilities:
- Oversee, supervise, and work with the Operations Supervisors in the Alberta Region to ensure customer requirements are being met, if not exceeded.
- Facilitate the education and development of the Operations Supervisors.
- Work with the Maintenance Supervisor to establish maintenance schedules and service providers. Ensure that schedules are met.
- Work with Safety Manager to ensure that all safety standards are being met. This includes hours of service, hiring standards, training, annual check rides, accident investigation and operational procedures.
- Proper response to all accidents, cargo losses, and/or personal injuries.
- Complete the fact finding, root cause analysis, preventability, and follow up on all accidents, cargo losses, tickets, and WCB claims in the Region.
- Ensure equipment is properly licensed and inspected.
- Handle driver discipline issues up to, and including, the first step in the Grievance Procedure.
- Work with Maintenance Supervisor on the receiving of new equipment and the disposal of old units.
- Making sure that the satellite and TMW systems are used to their full potential.
- Provide input for improvement of equipment specs.
- Provide input for development and improvement of policies and procedures.
- Know the contents of the Collective Agreement and how it relates to daily operations.
