[Employer] Oil Sands division is currently looking for a Project Engineering Manager for the Kearl Project.
The Project Engineering Manager will be responsible for management, direction and co-ordination of the project Engineering group and its interrelation with other project groups. The candidate will also responsible for implementing Engineering Procedures and maintaining the required standards of technical quality in the project work.
Responsibilities:
- assists the Project Manager in preparing project instructions;
- prepares the engineering section of the Project Management Plan;
- prepares work plans, schedules and budgets for the project in conjunction with Discipline Leads for submission to Project Manager for approval;
- ensures that engineering work on the project is completed in accordance with project SHE, risk management and engineering plans and AMEC QM system;
- establishes the systems for measuring technical progress and productivity for the project;
- facilitates and establishes the means of co-ordination of engineering work between disciplines, and between the engineering group and other project groups;
- prepares project instructions for engineering work on the project;
- assists the Project Manager, in preparing project instructions for communication and co-ordination between the Company, the customer and other organizations;
- through the Project Manager and the Manager, Engineering, arranges for the appointment of adequate quantity of qualified technical staff;
- initiates, co-ordinates and supervises work on the project and implements project instructions through the Discipline Leads;
- monitors manhour usage and progress on the project;
- takes corrective action where necessary to control engineering work within budget and schedule;
- prepares regular and special reports as required by the Project Manager;
- keeps the Project Manager informed of difficulties encountered and issues that arise on the project;
- develops a plan for production of documentation, including computer aided document production;
- assigns responsibilities for procurement packages to engineering staff;
- ensures that copies of obsolete or superseded documents are not in use on the project; and
- acts as liaison with Construction Manager regarding changes, additions and clarifications to technical documents
Qualifications:
- Engineering degree combined with registration or the ability to register as a Professional Engineer in Alberta
- 10+ years of experience in an EPC/Oil and Gas environment
- Experience in large scale Oil and Gas Projects
- Previous experience in a similar role
