Job Responsibilities
- Comply with all Federal, Coast Guard, OSHA and Company Regulations, Policies and Guidelines
- Prepare job related documentation
- Effectively communicate with internal and external customers
- Successfully complete Deckhand Qualification Checklist
- Assist in ensuring barge fleet is secure at all times
- Assist with preventive maintenance service, repairs and housekeeping as needed
- Attend weekly safety meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
Job Requirements:
- Must possess and maintain a valid Drivers License.
- Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to stand for long periods.
- Must be able to meet physical requirements including but not limited to: walking up and down stairs/ladders; negotiating uneven surfaces and carrying 50 pounds frequently.
- Must have the ability to work as a valued team member, take direction from supervision, keep required work schedule, maintain a high degree to attention to detail and follow all applicable rules, policies and regulations.
- Work schedule as assigned (days/evening shifts) including weekend and overtime assignments
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Successful completion of mandatory drug screen and background check upon job offer.
Preferred Experience, Skills and Knowledge:
- Previous marine Deck Hand experience
- Basic mechanical understanding of engines and pumps
