Our client, one of the world's largest companies in its industry, is looking for a Safety Coordinator for its Bonnyville location.
Reporting to the Senior Safety Manager, this individual will:
- Coordinate or provide in-house safety training for new hires
- Hold monthly safety meetings for employees
- Travel to field locations and check safety of employees and equipment
- Observe workers to determine use of prescribed safety equipment and safety procedures
- Inspect specified areas for fire-prevention equipment and other safety and first-aid supplies
- Prepare report of findings with recommendations for corrective action
- May investigate accidents to ascertain causes for use in recommending preventive safety measures and developing safety program
- May demonstrate use of safety equipment
- May compile and submit required accident/incident reports
- This position requires a high amount of local travel time. Must be able to work on a 24-hour call basis.
The successful candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:
- Previous experience in Health & Safety
- General knowledge of OHSA requirements; has or pursuing OH&S Certificate
- Good judgment skills
- General knowledge of safety equipment and standards
- Competent with MS Office programs
- Ability to follow instructions and work closely with fellow employees
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations
- Ability to work with diverse group of people
- Commitment to ongoing learning
- The salary range for this position is $52,640 - $65,800 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. Competitive benefit package effective immediately.
