Job Description:
- Provide technical recommendations on geophysical issues to line managers making business recommendations (ELT, asset management, etc.)
- Assure quality of geophysical work across Exploration, Development and Production Divisions. Ensure geophysical work is carried out efficiently, and delivers products aligned with required technical standards and metrics.
- Ensure consistency of Geoscience Peer Review process, and document & report the results
- Promote documentation, communication and application of Geoscience Best Practice across Petroleum CSG
- Participate in setting of KRAs, performance and competency measures for exploration geoscience staff.
- Participate in end-of-year performance assessment of staff and team leads.
- Coordination of training & development of technical staff, together with other Functional managers.
- Identify and understand trends and factors impacting emerging geophysical technology.

Roles And Responsibilities:
- Work to maintain positive external image of[Company] Petroleum in industry and other agencies, as preferred partner, competent operator, and as employer of choice
- Work with Exploration, Development and Production Leadership to ensure that a multi-disciplinary approach is utilized across the business, and that team-members are working in a cooperative and fully integrated fashion.
- Represent [Company]as Chief Geophysicist to partners/competitor companies, external agencies and meetings, including technical presentations at technical meetings and conferences.
- Maintain awareness of, and recommend new tools, technology and interpretation techniques for geophysical discipline, in conjunction with Petroleum Geoscience Technology
- Participation in relevant technology funding decisions. Identify critical geophysical knowledge gaps that may be addressed by external research and of possible external sources of that knowledge. Interface with existing and potential funded research.
- Develop, document & maintain standards, workflows and guidelines for Petroleum in conjunction with Chief Geologist and others
- Champion the needs of geoscience function for geophysical knowledge capture & management
- Organize periodic functional group meetings for sharing of knowledge and Best Practice.
Experience / Qualifications:
- Degree in Geophysics or Geology
- Experience & Technical Competencies
- 20 years+ years experience from the oil and gas industry with extensive international experience across the entire E&P value chain.
Particular experience in:
- Functional management.
- A track record of project work in Exploration, Development and Production including:
- Regional evaluation, prospect generation and risking, portfolios.
- Field appraisal and delineation
- Production
- A keen understanding of the value and practice of quality assurance activities
- A high degree of technical competence in seismic acquisition and processing.
- Good communicator (written and spoken) and extensive influencing skills.
- Organizing and Working in multi-disciplinary teams.
