Job Description:
[Company]is accepting online applications for the position of Structural Geology Specialist, located in Houston, Texas or San Ramon, California.
Overview:
[Company], headquartered in Houston, Texas, provides energy technology solutions and services to all [Company]operations and affiliates. [Company]is searching for a Structural Geology Specialist with expertise in characterization of fractured reservoirs or research experience with natural fracture systems. The Structural Geology Specialist will be working closely with engineers and earth scientists in reservoir management.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
- Fracture interpretation of available data including borehole image logs, core, production data, etc; integrate interpretation with reservoir-engineering dynamic data and models.
- Active participation in Naturally Fractured Reservoirs R&D efforts.
- Outcrop analog study and interpretation.
- Provide general structural geology expertise on a consulting basis.
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Structural Geology.
- Experience with fractured reservoirs or considerable field experience with natural fracture systems.
- Willingness to learn image-log interpretation tools and UNIX-based work station interpretation systems and applications.
- Willingness to engage fracture interpretation of cores.
- Broad-based, general knowledge of petroleum structural geology.
- Familiarity with oil-field reservoir management.
- Willingness and aptitude to transfer knowledge and skills.
- Willingness and ability to integrate work with all disciplines, especially reservoir engineering, and contribute to team dynamics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of image-log interpretation software, and GoCad or Petrel.
- Experience with carbonate reservoirs
- Background in geomechanics.
- Experience integrating outcrop analogs with fractured reservoirs.
Relocation may be considered within [Company]parameters.
Expatriate assignments will be considered.
