Husky's Rainbow Lake Operations is seeking a Health & Safety Advisor.
Rainbow Lake is located in the Northwest corner of Alberta, approximately 140 km west of High Level. It is a family oriented community with 1200 people serviced by extensive recreation facilities, a health care facility, and both primary and secondary schools. Husky’s Rainbow Lake Operations offer some of the most technically challenging and varied experience in the oil and gas industry. The Rainbow District consists of sweet and sour oil and gas wells, with gathering facilities that send the production to a large central processing plant. The oil and gas is sweetened at the plant before being shipped to sales or used for re-injection. The district has more than 100 local employees and another 25 full time contractors. Relocation to Rainbow Lake is required.
Husky provides a competitive compensation program for Rainbow Lake assignments. Employees are eligible for Site Specific Benefits which will be detailed in the recruitment process. They include a location premium, housing with paid utilities, a travel allowance and personal flights per each family member.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the co-ordination of Health & Safety programs and training within the NWP Northern Alberta District areas. The applicant must be prepared to establish an effective mentoring and coaching approach with employees and supervisors in order to gain their commitment and personal ownership of Husky.s Health and Safety program.
Specific duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Developing, co-oordinating and maintaining:
- Emergency Response Plans (ERP)
- Safety orientations for new hires, contractors, and summer students.
- Loss control programs and associated training
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining area or site specific Health & Safety systems to protect workers and the general public.
- Providing knowledge and support to front line supervisors and workers to enable them to carry out their work safely.
- Developing and maintaining general Health & Safety knowledge to assist in routine Health & Safety tasks.
- Acting as a liaison with Health & Safety regulators on a local basis.
- Assisting Corporate Health & Safety with program development and implementation.
- Assisting other areas such as Environment with site specific response, investigation, etc. as requested.
- Sitting on outside committees as applicable to work areas and Technical Specialties.
- Maintaining and updating existing reporting information systems (work permits and forms).
Qualifications
Our successful candidate has:
- 5 to 10 years of experience in the operation of oil and gas fields
- A good understanding of Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
- Successfully completed a related Health & Safety diploma or certificate program; or is willing and eligible to pursue such a program in the short-term.
- Good communication, team and organizational skills.
- Good PC skills, including MS Word, MS Excel, and SAP.
- As well, the successful candidate must have a valid drivers license, and Modern Safety Management and Practical Loss Control Leadership would be considered an asset.
The successful candidate will be required to reside in, or be willing to relocate to Rainbow Lake
