Job Description:
- This leading global independent energy company, with a total shareholder return for the year was up 104 percent.
- Exploration and production is the engine of future income and growth, currently representing nearly 70% of capital employed and over 95% of annual capital expenditures.
- They are seeking to create additional value with a pivotal Reservoir Engineer to be located in Texas.
- This professional is required to have a minimum of 20+ years of proven track record of accomplishments.
Position Summary
- This position will provide global reservoir engineering support for both conventional and unconventional reservoirs.
- This position requires considerable experience with unconventional plays and a “manufacturing” project/business approach.
- A team of business and commercial development/integrators will work side by side with both New Global basin and Unconventional team of geoscientists developing innovative and creative ways to capture large resource base and build new lines of business.
- Experience in shale gas, tight gas and coal bed methane is highly desirable.
- Normal job duties will be to provide estimates of hydrocarbon-in-place, rates and recoveries, and assist with economic evaluations in support of acquisitions and trades, plus active involvement in developing integrated opportunity proposals to national resource owners and partners.
- A good understanding of conventional reservoir engineering, reservoir fluid and rock characterization, reservoir simulation, reserves estimation and classification, and uncertainty analysis will be needed to help support the conventional new basin pursuit efforts.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Innovate and creative business development with senior, multifunctional team members.
- Generate Low-BTE-High estimates of original hydrocarbon-in-place, production rates, and recoveries for unconventional reservoirs.
- Assist with commercial analyses for new opportunity/line of business pursuit.
- Data room visits, QC and analysis of data, and fit-for-purpose reservoir performance assessments are likely.
- Key liaison with engineering colleagues in EPT, Development and Production functions.
- Provide technical direction/foundation for assessing reservoir performance and field development planning.
Skills And Experience
- 20+ years of reservoir engineering experience with heavy emphasis on unconventional reservoirs.
- Experience with subsurface uncertainty analysis.
- Extensive understanding of reservoir engineering principles, production forecasting, reserves estimation and classification, fluid and rock characterization, and economic analysis.
- Functional understanding of geology, geophysics, petrophysics, and reservoir characterization issues and how they relate to reservoir performance and development planning.
- Applied reservoir simulation experience will be very helpful.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, particularly for technical presentations and external interactions.
- Self-motivated to learn and adopt new technologies, impart knowledge to others, and coordinate technology deployment with other EPT teams.
Education/Training
Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering or closely-related discipline
