Functions:

Currently looking for a BRANCH MANAGER to work in our client's Grande Prairie Office.  Our client specializes in Compressors, Pumps & Air Dryers.


Job Summary:

 
Provides leadership, management and execution of the company's vision ensuring proper operational controls, procedures / processes, and business systems.  Directs operational and sales and marketing initiatives to effectively grow the business, operating efficiency, and quality and service.
 
Directs, administers and coordinates the activities of the Branch in support of the company strategies, policies, goals and objectives established in collaboration with company leadership and ownership.  The position does not involve supervision over general and cost accounting and financial policies or supplier relationships but does include profit and loss responsibility for the Branch.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the company leadership and ownership, is responsible for planning, directing and overseeing all aspects of the Branch's sales and marketing and operational policies, goals, objectives and initiatives.
  • Manages the company's day-to-day operations including field and branch sales and marketing, field service, customer service, service technician meetings and inventory management. Oversees all company activities in alignment with the agreed to corporate strategies and objectives.
  • Provides creative leadership to all employees offering advice, guidance and direction on business matters, including operational policies and processes / procedures, new business initiatives and management of existing relationships. Fosters a success oriented and accountable environment.
  • Ensures that policies, procedures and practices are in place and communicated; makes timely decisions; concentrates on doing the right things (versus just doing things right); looks for ways to increase throughput and make the branch more profitable, while maintaining or enhancing operations utilizing the systemic management process.
  • Ensures that the responsibilities, authorities and accountabilities of all direct reports are defined and clearly understood.
  • Follows our clients health, safety, and environmental policy. Advises corporate and safety personnel of issues. Ensures employees are adequately qualified to perform their work and training needs are identified and met.
  • Directs the preparation of short term and long- range plans and budgets based on agreed to broad corporate goals and growth objectives and implements programs that meet these goals and objectives.
  • Creates the structure and processes necessary to manage the organization's current activities and its projected / future growth.
  • Identifies and facilitates the implementation of change initiatives throughout the company to improve workflow, productivity, profitability and continuous improvement.
  • Keeps ownership and management team members informed about business activities, potential threats, significant opportunities and recommended actions.
  • Reviews and evaluates operating results including financial statements and sales activity reports regularly; comparing with established budgets, goals and objectives and recommends appropriate measures to enhance outcome - if necessary - are taken.
  • Develops sales objectives, plans, programs, tactics and budgets while ensuring company sales personnel are trained, motivated and monitored to effectively execute the programs to achieve or exceed revenue growth in the company's chosen markets and products.
  • In collaboration with the sales personnel, establishes and maintains effective customer relationships through direct customer or influencer / specifier, with a view to develop new business opportunities while presenting Our client positively to the market. Promotes the company by attending customer functions such as bbqs, golf tournaments, and oilmen bonspiels.
  • Determines staffing requirements, appraises, rewards, motivates, disciplines, interviews, hires, trains / coaches employees, or oversees these specific human resource requirements to ensure all necessary resources are in place to exceed or achieve agreed to strategies. Expected to deal with human resource issues at the branch level and to contact corporate human resources if further assistance is required.

  • 6.Teamwork: promotes and enables cooperation; positively affects morale; facilitates / builds understanding, acceptance and support for the company's operations and initiatives; creates a "team" culture.
  • 7. Coaching: monitors personal and organizational performance and provides timely and constructive feedback; creates a safe and open environment in which all can contribute / participate effectively; fosters self-worth in others and facilitates confidence and acceptance within the organization; enables a culture of "worthwhile and meaningful work" and contribution; proactively addresses performance issues in a constructive manner.
  • 8.Conflict and Issue Resolution: facilitates timely and constructive conflict and issue resolution; follows-up on unresolved issues effectively; accepts advice and constructive counsel.
  • 9. Profitability: Prepares business projections and budgets to meet quarterly and annual goals. (training will be provided) Must be able to read and understand financial statements. Accountable to investigate profit losses and ask other management team members for assistance when necessary.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong leadership and management/business administration skills.
  • Demonstrated customer development /relationship and presentation skills along with the ability to effectively lead and manage a sales team
  • Demonstrated effective communication, time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in developing and motivating employees to contribute and perform at the highest levels of their capacity
  • Demonstrated ability to "get the job done"
  • Demonstrated effectiveness to succeed in an entrepreneurial owner operator business environment where positive working relationship with the owners was achieved
  • Ability to adapt, learn and develop in areas that are unfamiliar. This may require attending training seminars, specialized courses, or researching data
  • Ability to build relationships with employees and show interest in their needs and career development
  • Knowledge of the service sector in the oil and gas industry

Qualifications:

  • Post secondary education in business, sales and marketing, or equivalent training in business or sales management.
  • Minimum five years progressive general sales and or operations management experience, including a knowledge of basic accounting, human resource management, purchasing and inventory management in a for profit business environment.
  • Intermediate level PC skills as well as general computer email, internet knowledge.
