Essential Job Duties:
- Coordinates and supervises the activities of Operations Drilling Engineers and Drill Site Managers (DSM’s) with regard to the drilling and completion of development and exploration wells.
- Provides for the development of direct reports (DSM’s) by means of performance appraisals and personal development plans as well as mentoring
- Consults on, reviews, critiques and approves well cost estimates and drilling plans prepared by the drilling engineers.
- Determines project assignments for direct reports
- Ensures optimum operational, financial, safety and environmental goals and objectives have been established for projects.
- Sets department operational goals
- Evaluates and approves drilling rigs and associated equipment.
- Manages the rig contract.
- Manages the loss control responsibilities and training requirements of direct reports.
- Reviews and approves rig inspection, incident investigation and safety meeting reports submitted by direct reports.
- Ensures communication and follow-up on def
- Supports the Drilling Department by sharing experiences on past results achieved and lessons learned with drilling team to ensure improved overall department performance.
- Conducts and/or leads incident investigations when appropriate.
- Is an active participant in well design reviews and risk assessments
- Ensures field work is performed in compliance with all applicable regulations and Company policies.
- Occasionally performs the duties of Drilling Manager.
- Communicates with partners and senior management as needed
- Reviews and evaluates direct reports.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 15 years in Drilling operations
- Strong leadership skills
- A strong track record of innovation, low cost safe drilling with good technical understanding of drilling related disciplines
- Good technical skills
- Track record of working in a team environment with G&G personnel and utilizing the skills of all members of the team
- Ability to influence others
- Innovative
- Team player
- Good management skills
