Husky's Northern Plains Exploration Resource group is looking for a staff or senior staff level geologist interested in an opportunity to work with a fast paced multi-disciplinary team of geologists, geophysicists, engineers, and land personnel.  As the successful candidate you will be responsible developing new unconventional and resource plays which will provide Husky the opportunity to significantly grow gas production.  This position will be at the forefront of Husky’s efforts to develop new resource plays within western Canada.
 
Specific duties include:
  • Identification of various resource and shale gas opportunities.
  • Technical evaluation of shale gas resource potential.
  • Working with the Resource team to develop play entry strategies.
  • Development and execution of play exploration and exploitation strategies.
  • Assessing land sales as well as potential partnerships, farmins, farmouts, and acquisitions. 
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
  • A Masters or Bachelor of Science degree in Geology.
  • A minimum of 10 years of oil and gas experience, with at least 5 years in mapping tight gas and/or shale gas resource plays.
  • A track record of developing new resource opportunities
  • Be registered, or capable of being registered with APEGGA.
  • Knowledge of petroleum geology, sequence stratigraphy, and exploration principles from basin analysis to prospect definition.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Accumap, Geographix, and the ability to work with and learn to use a variety of geological software.
  • Well developed oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work, as a professional, in a well established multi-disciplinary team environment.  Good teamwork skills are essential.
  • Excellent organizational skills to handle a wide variety of tasks in a fast paced environment with changing priorities.
