Position Summary
[Employer]. is currently accepting resume applications from qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Controller, located in our Sherwood Park Office.
The candidate will be responsible for gathering, preparing and analyzing preliminary annual budgets for the Production Services Department and review with the Controller.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Controller, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Preparation of monthly financial statements and combined monthly operating reports for Production Services
- Perform variance analysis of actuals to budget by division and combined
- Review monthly operating results with Divisional Managers and provide accounting assistance
- Complete monthly, quarterly and annual working paper files for review and audit
- Develop and implement processes and improvements to promote efficient and accurate financial reporting
- Ensure processes are documented for CSOX, are being followed and that any revisions are being documented
- Preparation and/or assistance with preparation as required and analysis of budgets for individual business units within the Production Services reporting division
- Preparation and posting of interdivisional charges and reallocations
- Reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts including cash and inter-company accounts
- Calculating and reporting of statutory remittances
- Accurate accounting for all Share Capital transactions
- Assist with preparation of working papers and schedules necessary to complete Production Services tax returns
- Maintenance of daily exchange rates
- Other financial duties as required
The following skills and qualifications are desired:
Experience:
- A minimum 3 years experience at an intermediate or senior accounting level with increasing levels of responsibility of financial reporting and preparing financial statements
- Prior experience in a multi company organization with prior public company experience considered an asset
- Prior experience preparing audit working paper files either in a public practice or industry considered an asset
Education:
- Post secondary Accounting Diploma or Business Degree from an accredited University
- CMA, CGA or CA preferred or enrolled in a related professional program and actively pursuing a designation

- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to work independently
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Technical proficiency (including MS Office)
