Position Summary
[Employer] is currently accepting resume applications from qualified candidates for the position of Financial Analyst, located in our Sherwood Park Office.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Prepare the monthly consolidation of financial results for the Canadian and foreign subsidiaries in accordance with Canadian GAAP
- Assisting the Manager of Financial Reporting with the completion of annual and quarterly consolidated financial statements and supplementary reporting requirements
- Completion of annual financial statement audit and quarterly review working paper files
- Work with Manager of Financial Reporting to coordinate annual financial statement audit and quarterly reviews with the external auditors
- Research accounting and other regulatory guidance and assist in the preparation of position papers to ensure the Company is in compliance with GAAP and other legislation/regulations.
- Perform in-depth variance analysis between actual operating results, budgets and forecasts, identifying and investigating any resulting variances for use by management in decision making
- Compile and analyze internal data in relation to established performance measurement metrics which are utilized in executive decision making
- Assist with the annual insurance renewal process to ensure all insurance submission data is gathered and schedules are accurately completed for submission to the underwriters in order to ensure adequate insurance coverage for Canadian and US operations
- Responsible for assisting the Manager of Financial Reporting with the coordination of the annual budget preparation and consolidation
- Completion of Statistics Canada reporting, and other government reporting as required
- Additional reporting and analysis as required by external users and senior management
The following skills and qualifications are highly encouraged for success in this role:
Experience:
- Experience preparing consolidated financial statements for a large corporation or public company would be a definite asset
- Hands on individual with experience dealing in a decentralized environment
Education:
- Post Secondary Degree or Diploma by an accredited University
- CA, CMA or CGA desired
Key Competencies:
- Proficient use of Excel for spreadsheet analysis and financial modeling
- Possess a high level of ability to handle change and to contribute in a fast paced and dynamic environment
- Excellent organizational, communication, analysis and problem solving skills
- Experience with JD Edwards ERP system would be beneficial
