Position Summary
Do you desire to become part of a winning team in a dynamic and fast paced industry? Flint Energy Services Ltd., are actively seeking two Financial Compliance Advisors for our Sherwood Park Office.
The successful candidates will be responsible for the development, syndication and approval of corporate-level policies and standards and develop an understanding of various business unit financial processes and controls to assess the adequacy of the financial control environment.

Reporting to the Compliance Officer, the successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Interview process subject matter experts to understand financial processes and controls for various functional areas.
- Review of divisional financial processes, controls and procedural documentation along with external compliance requirements and industry leading standards for financial process controls.
- Development of financial process policies and entity level control policies and standards.
- Work with corporate and business unit leaders to ensure successful and timely communication of corporate policies and standards to impacted areas.
- Review existing divisional procedure and process documentation to ensure compliance with the approved corporate policies and standards.
- Identify divisional anomalies, present recommendations for remediation and report remediation status to the Compliance Officer.
- Support the organization’s C-SOX testing effort by providing divisional leads with guidance as to the adequacy of their control environments.
- Work with Internal Audit to ensure awareness of corporate level policies and standards such that these requirements are integrated with the audit cycle.
- Assess existing and proposed processes to evaluate the adequacy of the controls over financial reporting.
- Identify and evaluate control compliance deficiencies and make recommendations for remediation. Work with the business units to update process documentation.
- Conduct key control walk-throughs and document results to ensure readiness for audit of financial control design and operating effectiveness.
- Work with Internal Audit to integrate audit of financial controls and compliance requirements with internal audit cycle.
- Monitor changes to the regulatory environment and identify opportunities to enhance the efficiency of the compliance initiatives.
The following skills and qualifications are required:
- The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 – 5 years experience (preferably in the energy sector) with in-depth knowledge of project and financial controls
- Understanding of financial reporting processes for construction and/or oil and gas is also an asset as this position will require deep understanding of end-to-end processes
- Experience with internal audit and/or with a Bill 198/MI 52-109 and/or Sarbanes Oxley implementation would be an asset
- Demonstrated ability to successfully liaison with a diverse group of individuals with varying proficiency in control requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University
- CA; CMA; CGA or similar certification desired but not specifically required
- Strong team player
- Excellent communication and advocacy skills – able to assert positions and effectively influence decisions
- Detail and results oriented individual with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to work independently
- Technical proficiency (including MS Office)
